Palmoilmagazine, JAKARTA – One investment opportunity in palm oil shell industries is pellet (high-energy density biomass) that could increase calorie value of palm oil shell to be equal with anthracite coal (6.100- 6.400 kilo calory/kcal per kg).
To develop palm oil shell pellet, there are lots of challenges to get sophisticated machine, including the machine fabrication which has been developed by Japan, such as, Sumitomo, Mitsubishi, and Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industry.
Ministry of Industry through Industrial Atache of Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo initiated business forum in Tokyo. It united palm oil shell businessmen that join Asosiasi Pengusaha Cangkang Sawit Indonesia (APCASI) and Japan Biomass Power Association (BPA). Indonesia – Japan Business Forum on Sustainable Palm Oil Biomass Industry was running on 26 September 2022 for the same collaboration between Ministry of Industry Indonesian Republic and Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Osaka.
The business forum also targeted some technology development companies in biomass process in Japan would understand more about the bigger economic value from palm oil shell process in Indonesia.
General Director of Resilience, Territorial, and International Industrial Access Ministry of Industry Indonesian Republic, Eko SA Cahyanto hoped, from the business forum, there would be the better cooperation in economic – techno in renewable energy sectors. The cooperation would be one implementation of National Energy Transition Program, namely to escalate the roles of industrial sectors of energy users to produce new renewable energy by advantaging side products of palm oil plantations.
Chairman of APCASI, Dikki Ahmar said in sustainable palm oil aspects in Indonesia, palm oil shell stakeholders run environmental and sustainable principles, including developing the people’s economy in palm oil shell centers.
“Sustainability aspects are significant because many palm oil downstream product buyers, including the shell required sustainability aspects on palm oil plantation products, such as, RSPO (Roundtable Sustainable Palm Oil) and ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil),” he said, as in the official statement to Palmoilmagazine, Thursday (29/9/2022).
In the forum business, there were some memorandum of understanding in palm kernel shell with the total about US$ 135,2 million per year. They consist ofPT. Jatim Propertindo and Hanwa & N. Taiheyo Cement; PT. Eka Sapta Paramita Energi and Semec and Iwatani; PT. Bersaudara Natural Energi and Thomas International. Co. Ltd and PTT Pacific; PT. Biomas Andalan Indonesia Baik and PTT Pacific; and also PT. Inti Persada with Thomas International Co. Ltd. (T2)
